Tips for stress

Stress is our reaction towards the external stimulus that affects our mind body balance. Everyone experiences stress in varying form and degrees. When the pressure is too low, it acts as a Eustress (positive stress) but when the pressure is too high, it affects our physical or mental functioning. An optimum level of stress is required to push us into the right direction. When it exceeds the moderate level it proves to be detrimental causing psychosomatic illnesses by weakening the immune system leading to headaches, irritable bowel syndrome, eating disorder, allergies, cold and fatigue, insomnia, heart ailments, hypertension, asthma and even cancer.

One needs to look for unexplained symptoms such as muscle ache, agitation and insomnia. The need is to recognize the cause to manage stress better. We need to find out factors that instigate stress but this is not as easy as it sounds. The ideal way is to change your attitude towards the stressful situations. Some tips to follow are joining a boot camp exercise regimes, distracting oneself from the triggering factors and opting for meditation and relaxation techniques.

Coping with stress requires recognizing the source of stress in our lives, observing and knowing how it affects us. Always act in ways that will help you control your level of stress either by changing the environment or lifestyle and learning how to relax. We need not get perturbed by events which are beyond our control. Change happens often for good. So, anticipate, monitor and adapt to change quickly and do not let it dishearten you. Our body either fights with the change or escapes. Accept change and move ahead in life.

Get engaged in recreational activities, look out for your interest area, and follow a healthy routine by adopting a strict exercise schedule and hooking on to a nutritious diet. Deep breathing and boot camp exercises by professional trainers help a lot in removing you from the provoking situation. Be social and keep good relationships. Talking to people helps in venting out emotional feelings and removing barriers. One needs to set realistic and achievable goals. Laugh out laud as it relieves stress in minutes, increases blood flow and keeps you healthy and fit.

Be organized and follow a good time management strategy. Take time out for things that you have been putting off. This helps improve your attitude and also revitalizes your energy levels. Good breaks even for ten minutes are quite rejuvenating. Plan something rewarding for yourself like reading a good book for half an hour, taking your favorite spa and massage. On encountering stressful situation try to be calm and speak slowly. Under stress, one tends to speak fast and breathlessly. By speaking slowly, you are in control of any situation and do not appear to be anxious.

Be a good judge of yourself. Learn to say 'No' when you are pushed too hard especially about office workloads and under peer pressure. In short, control the causes of stress before hand otherwise they will overpower you.
