Retired LoWs Do Yuma

Yuma, Arizona. In the winter, it's the best town in America with a year round population of some 50,000 and a winter population of 150,000. We retired LoWs make this a sure stop each winter. If you want to make next winter more fun, come join us!

You won't be alone! If you travel to the Foothills area and contact Sheila Harvey for happy hour you'll find yourself sitting among 10 to 25 other LoWs, each from a different station in life. We have a zillion former school teachers, a lawyer or two, some former nurses, truck drivers, waitresses, bartenders and someone from just about every other profession.

A short tour of the town will show that Yuma is Lettuce! Seriously, they claim to produce over 90% of the worlds winter vegetable crop! If farming is not your bag, take a tour through the Arizona Territorial Prison used in the late l800s. Think of being held, eight to a small cell, with the emperature in the 110's. It'll make you want to return to the farm!

Do you like boat trips? You can take a tour boat either up or down the Colorado River. Up stream you'll find Indian writings and old mining sites. Down stream it's a tour of RV parks on
the river and locks and dams which divide the water for Arizona agriculture, Mexico and the city of Yuma.

Still want to explore? A trip to Quartzsite in January and February will astonish you. This summertime village of less than 1,000 population expands to a city of hundreds of Thousands
Rock-dog during the season.

While in Yuma, please, see Sheila rent a nice place in the foothills. Some are wonderful previous owner of several hundred acres and put in a trust that each lot is surrounded by a brick wall, Spanish, paved with a specific type of white rocks, and have connections to at least three mobile homes on each lot. We try to find all the rooms close to each other and we really like a social life very special.

Withoutmaking more of it than is proper, I think the Mexican town of Algodones (just south of Yuma) is the best of the border towns, especially if you need inexpensive eye care, dental treatment or medicine.
